June 2014 Message Toolkit

Vote

While Maryland currently has a plan to reduce its carbon pollution 25% by 2020, the state will be revisiting it in 2016. Thus in this election year, Marylanders may want to especially consider voting for officials who will make the best decisions for the state in reaching its climate goals in the next few years. Unfortunately, mid-term elections typically attract less than half of eligible voters, and fewer than 1 in 5 potential voters show up for mid-term primaries. The messages for June encourage Marylanders to vote in the mid-term primaries and to contact the candidates and ask them about their positions on climate change. While the toolkit for June includes social media, posters and a fact sheet, experimental research has shown that personalized contact is what is most likely to get voters to the polls, so encourage Marylanders to talk to their family members, friends and neighbors this month about the importance of voting.

Download the Guide, as well as other media below, including social media graphics, Facebook and Twitter content, a fact sheet, and posters in size 8.5×11 that you can print yourself, or size 11×17 that can be produced inexpensively by any copy or print facility.
